The Business Development Manager oversees all aspects retail expansion in partnership with our Regional Operations Managers and is responsible for creating the overall strategy for retail expansion opportunities in new and existing markets. This role will be responsible for identifying opportunities in key markets to grow brand awareness, retail connections and relationships and increase top-line revenue. In true bluboho nature, the Business Development Manager has an entrepreneurial spirit like no other. Driving every region to own, meet and exceed sales and metric goals, and guiding retail teams in addressing and overcoming store and pop-up performance challenges to achieve set targets.

Who you are:

You can be found at the airport catching flights from one city to the next searching for the next place to bring bluboho and supporting our retail partners and pop-ups. You are always looking for new and creative ways to grow bluboho’s global brand awareness, and unique partners to seek out in new and exciting markets. On your visits, you can be found working the floor to lead teams by example and identify patterns and opportunities within different retail spaces in the business. Naturally, you are drawn to guests and providing an unparalleled guest experience, and can provide expertise on key guest issues, team staffing and management, store operations and company policies and procedures.

This individual will leverage their deep wealth of retail knowledge and their internal partners to solve problems and remove obstacles for their team, regardless of operational challenges or circumstances beyond their control. You have an innate ability to build and maintain cross-functional relationships to create solutions and plan for the future. You cultivate mutually beneficial relationships, negotiating numerous first-of-a-kind deals and partnerships to meet the needs of the business and our partners. This individual will brilliantly shift gears to respond to sudden changes or demands in the business and teaches their team how to pivot effectively, staying flexible to the ever-evolving retail landscape.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Analyze our current retail network capabilities in existing and new markets and work to develop a retail create a retail expansion strategy that supports the overall company growth strategy
  • Continuously work to identify retail partnership, pop-up and wholesale opportunities in key markets
  • Develop long-term business plans alongside our retail partners to grow our multi-channel revenue strategies
  • Supporting in the planning and setup of new retail partnerships and pop-ups in new and existing markets; acting as the main point of contact for all retail partners and pop-ups
  • Act as the champion of our brand, ensuring all retail partners are equipped to share our stories, speak to our product and maintain our guest experience and visual merchandising directives
  • Visit retail spaces in new and existing markets to ensure support is provided and sales are consistent
  • Monitoring and ensuring that marketing and promotion programs are correctly implemented
  • Analysing sales figures and forecasting future sales
  • Identifying the right technologies to use for recording sales figures, analysing data and forward planning
  • Bringing creativity, strategy and influence to our merchandising, as all spaces with partners and pop-ups will be unique
  • Evaluating competitor activity and creating tactics to enhance our performance
  • Plan and manage a budget of a business unit; tracking actual investment vs. plan to ensure budget adherence
  • Establish relationships with external community partners to identify sales and traffic driving opportunities that align with our strategy

What you’ll bring

Required:

  • 5+ years of retail store management experience
  • Proven experience in developing and maintaining retail partnerships and new store openings
  • Ability to work a full-time schedule including varied hours/days including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Willingness and ability to travel 75% of your working time
  • Self-starter with strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and follow-through skills
  • Passion for a unique guest experience
  • Know-how in creating and implementing retail strategy across different markets
  • A proactive attitude, taking the initiative to act when needed and continuously striving for improvement
  • Highly motivated, able to set priorities and react accordingly
  • Ability to work with all levels of organization to build partnerships
  • Ability to promote cross functional relationships that encourage a multi-channel team environment – a ‘one team’ mindset

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business considered an asset
  • Experience working in a retail luxury goods or fine jewellery organization
